Parking in Anmore

Like all municipalities, the Village of Anmore enforces regulations governing parking on public roads and rights of way. There are public parking restrictions, and the Village also has both a Resident Vehicle Decal program and a Temporary Parking Permit for special events.

Public Parking Restrictions

Public parking is available when visiting the Anmore Community Hub at 2697 Sunnyside Road. We have accessible parking in the upper lot, and public parking in the lower lot of the Hub. Parking is not permitted on side streets near Buntzen Lake along Sunnyside Road. Parking is also not permitted on any boulevard or pathway/walkway within Anmore at any time during the year.

In addition, Anmore’s zoning and business licence bylaws do not permit the use of private land to sell parking. This type of parking impedes emergency response, blocks driveways, causes a nuisance for area residents and poses other safety concerns as the properties do not have properly prepared parking surfaces.

Anmore Parking Options

To provide Anmore residents with dedicated parking areas in the community and options for additional public parking for events or other temporary circumstances, the Village of Anmore has two programs: Resident Vehicle Decals and Temporary Parking Permits. Temporary parking permits allow parking in an area that’s not designated for parking for a short term event or purpose.

Anmore residents can apply for a Resident Vehicle Decal that allows parking in only two designated parking areas in Anmore. If you have a decal, place it on the windshield of your vehicle for easy visibility. If you’d like to apply for a vehicle decal, please follow the instructions below.

A decal is not a parking pass for all street parking; it is only for the designated residential parking areas in Anmore. Designated residential parking is noted with parking signs in the following areas:

  • Half of available parking on Elementary Road
  • Parking spaces on Sunnyside Road between Alder and Ludlow

To apply for a Resident Vehicle Decal:

  • Email decal requests to hall@anmore.com
  • Include the following information in the email:
  • First and last names
  • Anmore street address
  • Vehicle make, model and licence plate number

The Village will issue a decal for each vehicle registered to an Anmore household.

Anmore’s Temporary Parking Permit provides a short-term solution for residents who require additional parking during a temporary circumstance or event. To apply for a Temporary Parking Permit, complete the  application form and email it to village.hall@anmore.com.

Criteria for Temporary Parking Permits

  • Permits are available to residents and their guests who require parking affected by parking restrictions as per Anmore Parking Regulations and Enforcement Bylaw  and Anmore Highway Regulation Bylaw.
  • An application must be submitted to the Village Municipal Office no less than five business days prior to issuance.
  • The permit application is subject to a site review by the Bylaw Enforcement Officer.
  • Payment of $25 must be received prior to issuance as per Anmore Fees & Charges Bylaw.
  • Vehicles must not obstruct sidewalks, pathways, driveways or fire hydrants.
  • Permits must be visible on the vehicle’s dashboard at all times.
  • The permit applicant is responsible to ensure that all vehicles are parked within the areas identified by the Bylaw Enforcement Officer or further action may result to ensure compliance.

Summer Traffic & Buntzen Lake

Traffic to Buntzen Lake increases significantly during warm weather and weekends.

  • Parking and access to the lake are managed by BC Hydro, including reservations and lot capacity
  • Parking is only permitted in designated areas. Vehicles parked illegally may be ticketed and/or towed
  • Do not block driveways, roadways, or emergency access routes
  • Parking at the Anmore Village Hub is permitted in designated stalls only

Reporting concerns

  • To report illegal parking, make a bylaw complaint or contact the bylaw officer.
  • Urgent concerns (e.g., blocked driveways or safety issues) can be directed to the Coquitlam RCMP non-emergency line at 604-945-1550.

The Village continues to work closely with BC Hydro to address traffic flow at the park entrance and share concerns raised by residents.

Beginning May 13, visitors can book parking passes by visiting bchydro.com/buntzen or through the Yodel app. Passes are released daily at 7:00 a.m. for the following day, with options for morning, afternoon or full-day visits. Parking reservations are free but mandatory for vehicle access during the reservation period. Those wishing to provide feedback directly to BC Hydro may do so at projects@bchydro.com.
