Buntzen Lake Traffic and Parking in Anmore

May 5 2026

With warm weather returning, we’re again seeing increased traffic to Buntzen Lake and the impacts that can have on roads and neighbourhoods throughout Village of Anmore.

Parking and access to the lake are managed by BC Hydro, including their reservation system and lot capacity. When the site reaches capacity, vehicles are prohibited from queuing or parking in surrounding areas. The Village continues to work closely with BC Hydro to address traffic flow at the park entrance and share concerns raised by residents. Those wishing to provide feedback directly to BC Hydro may do so at projects@bchydro.com.

While the Village does not control access to the lake, we do enforce our parking and traffic bylaws to help maintain safety and access for residents.

Parking & enforcement:

  • Please follow all posted parking regulations. Parking is not permitted on restricted streets (including areas on or near Sunnyside Road by Buntzen Lake), or on any boulevard, pathway, or walkway
  • Parking at the Anmore Village Hub is permitted in designated stalls only
  • Do not block driveways, roadways, or emergency access routes
  • Vehicles parked illegally within the Village may be ticketed and/or towed in accordance with municipal bylaws

Reporting concerns

  • Bylaw complaints: To report illegal parking, make a bylaw complaint or call 604-828-4987
  • Complaints received after hours will be reviewed the next shift (the Bylaw Department does not respond to text messages)
  • Bylaw officers work flexible, unposted hours and will respond when on duty
  • Immediate concerns such as blocked driveways, vehicles on private property, or unsafe conditions can be directed to Coquitlam RCMP as appropriate at 604-945-1550.

Please note: the Public Works after-hours line is reserved for infrastructure emergencies and should not be used for parking or traffic complaints.

The Village remains committed to minimizing the impact of lake traffic on residents and will continue to monitor conditions and adjust our approach as needed.
