Dr. Hal Weinberg Spirit Park Expansion
Dr. Hal Weinberg Spirit Park is located at 1009 Ravenswood Drive in Anmore, adjacent to the Anmore Community Hub at 2697 Sunnyside Road.
The Dr. Hal Weinberg Spirit Park Expansion will enhance Anmore’s primary outdoor gathering space with improved recreation opportunities, expanded parking, new gathering spaces, and stronger connections between the park and the Anmore Community Hub.
Following community engagement, Council direction, and detailed design, construction of the project began in August 2026.

Project Overview
The Dr. Hal Weinberg Spirit Park Expansion is a multi-phase capital project that will improve access, connectivity, and recreation opportunities while preserving the park’s role as Anmore’s primary community gathering space.
The project includes:
- A new Ravenswood Drive road alignment
- Expanded parking, including accessible and electric vehicle parking
- Improved pedestrian connections between Spirit Park and the Anmore Community Hub
- A community plaza for events and gatherings
- Upgraded pathways and landscaping
- New park amenities informed by community engagement

Community Engagement
In spring 2025, the Village launched Phase 1 of community engagement for the Dr. Hal Weinberg Spirit Park Expansion. Residents shared ideas at the Easter Egg Hunt and through an online feedback form. The feedback received helped identify community priorities and informed the development of the preferred park concept.

Some elements of the park are already confirmed and will not change as a result of the engagement process:
- Road alignment and parking area design (including expanded parking with accessible and electric vehicle spaces)
- Gazebo (remaining in its current location)
- Plaza (outdoor event space with step seating, connected to the Hub)
- Access points and pathways connecting the park with the Anmore Community Hub
Residents shared ideas for five key areas of the park:
- Open Lawn – Support for an outdoor amphitheatre, covered picnic area, and recreation amenities like a ping pong table.
- Natural Forest – Keep it natural with added walking paths and benches.
- Active Park – Interest in a bike pump track; some preferred restoring the space to forest.
- Playground – Nature-themed play, accessible equipment, and creative themes.
- Meadow Area – Preserve the meadow or add features like a garden or junior pump track.
Other popular ideas included mini golf, a community garden, and a toddler play area. While a community pool was often suggested, it isn’t feasible due to infrastructure constraints.

In September 2025, the Village launched Phase 2 of community engagement by presenting the refined concept for the Dr. Hal Weinberg Spirit Park Expansion at Ma Murray Day. Residents were invited to review the updated concept boards and provide written comments.
The feedback received was presented to Council and helped inform discussions on the preferred design and the next steps for the project.
