New Restrictions Added to High Fire Danger Rating Effective August 1, 2025

Urgent Advisory:

As per a notice from Jay Sharpe, Fire Chief, the Sasamat Volunteer Fire Department has advised that there are new restrictions to the High Fire Danger Rating that are in effect today (August 1, 2025).

Existing Restrictions:

Under the existing High Fire Danger Rating, the open burning ban applies to all open fires, including campfires and outdoor wood burning appliance fires within the Village of Anmore. No open fires are permitted, even if you have previously received a campfire permit.

New restrictions on High Risk Activities

Effective August 1 at 12:01 a.m., the additional restrictions apply to all work that is either in or adjacent to forested areas. It does not apply to construction sites where the land has already been cleared.
Under this order, all work must cease between 1 p.m. and sunset each day and you must maintain a two-hour fire watch.
Restrictions on High Risk Activities (machinery and commercial operations) include:
  • operating a power saw, electric or gas;
  • mechanical tree felling, woody debris piling or tree processing, including delimbing;
  • welding;
  • portable wood chipping, milling, processing or manufacturing;
  • skidding logs; and
  • use of heavy machinery.
Other high risk activities listed include:
  • mechanical brushing;
  • disk trenching;
  • use of explosives;
  • using spark or fire producing tools;
  • fireworks;
  • grinding;
  • mechanical land clearing; and
  • maintaining right of ways (including grass mowing).
Exceptions may apply with an approved Fire Safety Plan in place.
