Bears Are Beginning to Bulk Up For Winter

August 15 2025

Late summer and fall mean more bear sightings as they search for extra food before hibernation. During this time, bears can eat almost non-stop to prepare for the colder months.
Here in Anmore, that can lead them into residential areas if they find easy food sources. You can help by:
  • Keeping garbage and compost secured until collection day
  • Harvesting fruit and berries as soon as they ripen
  • Giving outdoor cooking areas a good scrub after use
  • Storing pet food and bird seed indoors
Remember, no bin is truly bear-proof. The longer a bear interacts with your bin, the more likely it is to get in. Removing attractants is the best way to prevent future encounters.
