Reminder: Daylight Saving Time Ends This Weekend
October 27 2025
Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour before bed on Saturday, November 1! Daylight Saving Time officially ends at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, when clocks “fall back” to 1:00 a.m. That means an extra hour of sleep, earlier sunrises, and darker evenings as we move into November. As the days get shorter and temperatures drop, here are a few seasonal reminders to help keep your home and community safe:
🌙 Stay Safe on the Roads
With dusk arriving earlier, we encourage everyone to be extra alert while driving, walking, or cycling. Reduced daylight can affect visibility—so remember to slow down, stay visible, and watch for pedestrians on our Village roads and trails.
🔥 Check Your Alarms
This is also a great time to check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Replace batteries, test the alarm, and make sure the unit isn’t past its expiry date. A few minutes of maintenance can help keep your household safe this winter.
🏡 Prepare Your Home for the Season
As temperatures drop, take a few moments to winter-prep your home and property:
• Drain and store garden hoses, and shut off outdoor taps
• Inspect gutters and downspouts and clear away leaves or debris
• Clear debris and fallen leaves from nearby catch basins to help prevent localized flooding
• Check that flashlights and batteries are working in your emergency kit
• Make sure your vehicle is stocked and ready for colder, darker conditions
Taking care of these small seasonal tasks helps keep your home and community safe as we transition into the winter months.
