Stage 2 Water Restrictions Begin May 1 in Metro Vancouver
April 27 2026
Metro Vancouver has announced that Stage 2 water restrictions will take effect starting May 1, 2025, replacing the previously anticipated Stage 1 entry.
This proactive measure responds to long-range forecasts of warm, dry weather and aims to ensure treated drinking water is available for essential daily needs, including drinking, cooking, and cleaning.
Under Stage 2 restrictions:
- Lawn watering is prohibited for all residential and non-residential properties
- Trees, shrubs, and flowers may be watered:
- Between 5:00 am and 9:00 am using automatic or manual sprinklers
- At any time using hand watering or drip irrigation
- Vegetable gardens may be watered at any time
- All hoses must be equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle
The Village encourages all residents to reduce outdoor water use and support regional conservation efforts during the upcoming dry season.
