2026 Election

Anmore’s next General Local Government Election will take place in October 2026.

In British Columbia, general local government elections take place every four years on the third Saturday in October.

These elections provide residents with a direct way to participate in local democracy by choosing the individuals who will represent the community and make decisions on their behalf for municipal government and the local school district during the next term.

Eligible residents of the Village of Anmore will have the opportunity to elect one Mayor, four Councillors, and one School Trustee (Anmore-Belcarra).

The Mayor, Councillors, and School Trustee will serve a four-year term from 2026 to 2030. Voters can participate on Election Day, Saturday, October 17, 2026, or take advantage of advance voting on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, as well as voting by mail.

This page will be regularly updated with important information, including candidate details, voting locations, and instructions for mail ballots, to help residents stay informed and fully participate in shaping our community’s future.

General Election Info:

Visit Elections BC to learn more about voter eligibility and to:

  • Register to vote if you are 18 years of age or older

  • Update your voter details, including your residential or mailing address

  • Enroll on the List of Future Voters if you are 16 or 17 years old

All eligible resident and non-resident property electors of Anmore have the right to vote by mail to participate in the 2026 General Local Elections. The Mail ballot application form will be available on our website and at the Village Hall starting on August 10, 2026. Once your mail ballot application is approved, you can receive your mail ballot package via regular mail, or you can pick it up at the Village Hall.

We are hoping to receive our ballots by September 25, however this date is not guaranteed. We will let you know when ballots are available for pick up, and will mail out others as requested as soon as possible.

Postage for return of mail ballots will be covered by the Village of Anmore, however if an elector decides to courier back their ballot, the elector will be responsible for the costs of the courier. Further instructions will be included in the mail ballot package.

Voters are responsible for returning their ballot on time, either by mail or by dropping off at the Village Hall. Ballots received after 8pm on Saturday, October 17, will not be counted.

Mail Ballots can be returned:

  • By Mail – best to mail before October 1;
  • By Courier to Village Hall – Must be received prior to 4 pm on October 16;
  • In Person at Village Hall during regular business hours prior and to 4 pm on October 16; or
  • In Person at Village Hall during Advance or General Voting Day, between 8 am and 8 pm, to be presented to the CEO/DCEO table.

Mail Ballot Dates

August 10, 2026 Mail Ballot Application posted to Anmore Website and begin acceptance of applications.
September 25, 2026 Estimated date for starting to mail out ballots, issue mail ballots from Anmore Village Hall.
September 30, 2026 Recommended last day to submit mail ballot request form – though one can be completed later, as long as we are not  relying on Canada Post. E.g. a person can walk into the village hall, request one, bring it back before the deadline for receiving, or even fill it out on site.
October 16, 2026: 4pm Last day to receive mail ballots at the Anmore Village Hall in person or by courier.
October 17, 2026: 8pm Deadline to receive mail ballots to be included in the final ballot count.

For 2026, you can give a total of $1,429.70 to a local elections candidate or elector organization per campaign.

For a local election held in 2026, unendorsed candidates may contribute an additional $1,429.70 to their own campaign, and a group of endorsed candidates may contribute an additional $1,429.70 in total to the campaign of the elector organization. These additional amounts may only be contributed in the same calendar year that the local election is held.

The campaign contribution limit is adjusted at the start of each calendar year.

Nomination documents for each candidate are available by selecting the candidate’s name.

Nomination period ends at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026. Candidates may withdraw their nomination until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026. Candidates who withdraw before the deadline will not appear on the ballot.

As we near the beginning of the pre-campaign period on July 20, Elections BC thought that it would be helpful to share a few reminders regarding election advertising. Election advertising may include any public communication that directly or indirectly promotes or opposes a candidate or elector organization during the pre campaign period or campaign period (July 20 – October 17, 2026). In the campaign period (September 19 – October 17, 2026), election advertising also includes public communications that take a position on an issue associated with a candidate or elector organization.

Most election advertising must contain an authorization statement. Authorization statements must include the name of the financial agent, and either a B.C. phone number, email address or mailing address for the financial agent and include an indication that it was authorized. For example: Authorized by John Smith, financial agent, 604-123-4567.

Online advertising, such as a paid social media post, does not need to include an authorization statement if the ad includes a direct link to a webpage that contains it.
