Village Hall Closure announcement dated Tuesday, March 17, 2020
The BC Centre for Disease Control continues to advise that the risk to the general population remains low in our area. However, in an effort to stop the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Village of Anmore is taking the extraordinary step of closing the Village Hall to the public effective tomorrow (Wednesday, March 18th). A timeframe for reopening is not known at this time. We are actively monitoring updates from local, provincial and federal health authorities and are taking immediate action as directed to protect the safety of residents and staff.
There will also be limited staff availability at the Village Hall over the coming weeks. The most effective way to get a quick response is to email village.hall@anmore.com. Calls may not be able to be answered immediately, however at this time voicemails will be picked up and returned regularly. Please visit our website, as much of the information regularly requested by residents is posted there, including updates regarding COVID-19.
For now, the Village will be continuing business by holding our Regular Council meeting scheduled for tonight (March 17). In accordance with gatherings of less than 50 people, we will be implementing social distancing practices to promote public, staff and Council safety. For those who would prefer not to attend the meeting in person, we will be posting draft minutes of the meeting as soon as possible on Wednesday, March 18th.
Consideration will be given tonight on currently scheduled Council and Committee meetings for the coming weeks. At this time, the Village will be postponing our previously scheduled public engagement on March 31st regarding the Anmore Civic Building. We will advise of a new date as soon as possible.
The Village urges everyone to do their part to prevent the spread of this disease by following the guidelines and directions of our Provincial Medial Health Officer and the Government of Canada.
